VIA Rail's 'best kept secret'
Random Reflections
Acouple of years ago, my curiosity was piqued by the present of a VIA Rail sign on the side of the stately CP Rail station in downtown Sudbury. After all, I knew full well that VIA's transcontinental train, The Canadian, doesn't stop there, instead using the CNR trackage and the nondescript station at Sudbury Junction on the city's northeastern outskirts.

Nobody denies truth of Mulroney's attacks
National Affairs
Many years ago, when former Toronto Maple Leaf owner Harold Ballard was asked to comment on the death of his former colleague Stafford Smythe, the outspoken Ballard made his feelings quite clear. "I never said anything good about the little prick when he was alive," said Ballard. "I'm not going to start now just because he's dead.

As Reality Goes, It Was Pretty Surreal
Gordon Kirkland At Large
I've never been a big fan of reality television, partially because I can't tell whose reality it is supposed to be, and partially because it's made so many of my writer friends in LA consider taking jobs that involve asking, "Do you want fries or a hot apple pie with that?

The Purpose of God
Christian Perspectives
There are ranges of beliefs within the Christian Church concerning God's work in the world. There are those who say that everything that happens is for a direct and divine purpose. There are others (like myself) who believe that if we surrender everything that happens to God, a divine purpose can be created.
