Proper balance finally struck on Charter, police rights
      ACCORDING TO AN ARTICLE in last Friday's Globe and Mail, some members of the defence Bar are upset about a recent decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal ordering a new trial for a 15-year-old on eight firearms charges. In our view, they have no reason to be critical of the judgment, which should have the support of every right-thinking Canadian.

Amaranth's move a welcome first step
      IT WAS REFRESHING TO LEARN that Amaranth Township has come on board in the county-wide curbside/roadside pickup of three streams of household waste. Amaranth was one of two townships not participating in Dufferin's waste handling programs. We commend the council for its decision to provide pickup of solid household waste, recyclable household waste, and organics.
