International card at Big Tyme
Local boxing aficionados will have a chance this weekend to see some world class boxers when Big Tyme Fitness hosts the Four Nations International Boxing Tournament.
The event, being held at the BigTyme gym on Faulkner Street, Sunday afternoon, will feature national team members from Ireland, Wales and Scotland squaring off against a contingent from Canada.
Canadian boxers include; a couple of heavyweight contenders from Quebec as well two local fighters, light heavyweight Steve Franjic and featherweight Padraic Griffin.
For Griffin, this will be a good chance to show against a top-ranked world class fighter.
In addition to his Ringside World Champion title, he currently holds the third place ranking for Canadian Featherweight boxers and this event will be a good test of his abilities.
Tickets are $10 each and with limited seating, they are expected to sell-out early. Doors open at noon with the first bout scheduled at 1 p.m.
There will also be a number of prizes and giveaways throughout the afternoon including tickets for Buzz Grant's Super Bantamweight Canadian Championship fight against Jason Hayward in Brampton on October 13th.
