Over Labour Day weekend, Orangeville's Peewee Rep Bengals took part in the OBA "C" Championships which were held in Beamsville, Ontario.

The weather was perfect and the team which had been practicing very hard all week was ready.

In their first game on Friday night, Orangeville battled back from an early deficit to defeat Georgetown 7-6.

Ty Wright managed to get the big hit for his team with bases loaded to key the come back. Both Daniel Kozluk and Josh Huot had two singles.

The team was kept in the game by pitchers Tyler Goertzen, Mitchell Pike and Josh Huot.

Game two on Saturday morning saw the Bengals square off against their Beamsville hosts.

Orangeville got off to a terrible start and could not recover, losing 16-7.

In their third game Orangeville managed to hang on to defeat a tough team from Amherstburg 5-4. Mitchell Pike, Leo Labine and Josh Huot pitched the team to victory. Frank Leone led the team with a double and 2 runs scored on offense.

In their fourth game Orangeville played what could arguably be their best game of the year, hammering Kingsville 13-4.

Mitchell Pike, Evan Marshall and Josh Huot were strong on the mound for the

Bengals while the big bats were provided by Mitchell Pike, Evan Marshall and Andy Williams, each having three hits.

Frank Leone almost put one over the fence.

Defensively, John Pritchard made a diving catch in right field to help end an inning and Josh Gadomski made several good catches in left field.

They next faced Port Hope on Sunday morning.

After playing three tough games on Saturday which caused them to use up the innings of three of their pitchers who could not pitch on Sunday.

Tyler Goertzen started for the Bengals and pitched four innings of one run ball before handing the ball off to Andy Williams to seal the win.

Daniel Kozluk, Ty Wright, Mitchell Pike, David Humphrey and Evan Marshall keyed the offence.

The unselfish John Pritchard laid down the perfect suicide squeeze bunt to score Evan Marshall and help take a two run lead. The final was 6-3 for Orangeville.

The win placed Orangeville into the championship match against Beamsville.

Goertzen again got the nod to start and pitched his team to a 2-1 lead after three innings but due to OBA rules had to leave the game after pitching his maximum seven innings for the day.

The Beamsville bats which had been booming all weekend, came to life again and scored seven runs over the next three innings.

With the score 8-4 in the top of the seventh inning Orangeville was facing the end of their season.

Ty Wright managed to get on base and with two out was scored on a hit from Joshua Huot.

That brought up Orangeville's two big batters and Mitchell Pike and Evan Marshall both delivered doubles to make the score 8- 7 with the tying run on second base.

With the home town crowd starting to panic Beamsville switched pitchers and brought out their hardest thrower who then went out and stuck out Orangeville's last batter with three wicked fastballs.

Big bats in the game were provided by Mitchell Pike, Evan Marshall, and Gavin Clark.

This was the Team's first year in Rep and to win the silver medal at the Ontario Championships is quite an
