Dufferin Town & Country Farm Tour set for 29th

2007-09-20 / Local News

"If you ate today, thank a farmer."

Your breakfast this morning was made possible by farmers. These people and their families have entered into a contract with you, the consumer, to produce safe, healthy, high-quality food in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way.

The Dufferin Town & Country Farm Tour is an opportunity for you and your family to visit farms and enjoy a day in the rural community.

You will visit farms and agri-businesses in the township of East Garafraxa. Reach out and touch the lives of our farm families.

See farm animals, a cow being milked, have the children make butter, learn from information exhibits, plus much more.... You'll end your day enriched by the diversity of farming in our County and have a better understanding and appreciation for food production and agriculture - not only the quality of our produce but also the dedication of our farmers to the preservation of the environment.

No pre-registration or admission required, but a non-perishable food donation to the Food Bank would be appreciated. Passports with maps showing the driving route can be picked up 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. day of the tour, at Hills of Headwaters Tourism Information Centre, northeast corner of Highway 10 and Broadway, or Grand Valley Inland Co-operative, corner of County 109 and County 5. The tour runs rain or shine, so dress accordingly....

Host farms will have the welcome mat out from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For tour information, please call 519-941-0454, 519-942-0984 or 1-800- 332-9744. Brochures are available at Hills of Headwaters Tourism and local municipal offices.
