Crushers still looking for win

Now three games into their schedule, the Orangeville Crushers are still looking for that elusive first win.

Last Thursday in Newmarket, the Hurricanes wasted no time in ending the night early for Orangeville starting goalie Matt Kinsella who was pulled after giving up a pair on four shots.

A second period goal by Robert Visca was the only Crushers bright spot and by the time it was all over, Newmarket cruised their way to a 7-1 victory.

On Friday night it was off to Huntsville for a rematch with the division leading Otters. Again as in their first outing this season, penalties would prove to be the difference with Huntsville taking advantage of a pair of unanswered powerplay markers on the way to a 4-2 win.

Nicholas Vassos and Scott Christie would record the Orangeville goals with assists going to Matt Crilly, Matt McCann, Norm Ezekiel and Nick Hearn.

The weekend ahead promises to be a busy one with a game in Collingwood on Friday night followed by an appearance at the Govenors Showcase Tournament in Mississauga on Saturday morning.

Both games are a great chance for Orangeville to put up some points in the standings. Collingwood is currently winless in five games while the Crushers will certainly be looking for some retribution against Buffalo, who edged them from the final wildcard playoff berth last season by one point. The game with the Blues in Collingwood is scheduled for an 8 p.m. start while Saturday's contest against Buffalo gets underway at 9:15 a.m. in the Erin Mills Arena.
