Canada's first and only International Equestrian Federation (FEI)-sanctioned World Cup Eventing Qualifier is taking place near Mansfield at the Wits End Farm.

The event, which begins tomorrow (Friday) and wraps up Sunday, is the equivalent of a triathlon, where event tests include speed, endurance and athleticism over three phases of competition. The phases are dressage, cross-country and stadium.

In the dressage competition, participants will be tested on mental preparation and physical prowess. In cross-country the horses' and riders' bravery, endurance and skill will be tested. The stadium competition is to show that after the cross-country demonstration the horses are still able to demonstrate being supple,

agile and obedient.

This event features top riders from Canada, the United States, Great Britain and Ecuador.

"We're thrilled to host this prestigious competition," says Jo Young, show organizer and international event judge. "The FEI gives permission to host a qualifier to only a select few venues. Being chosen is an honour for our young facility and equestrian sports in Canada."

Admission is $5 per vehicle with proceeds going towards Wits End Horse Trials and Safe Communities of the Hill Country.

Wits End Farm is located at 996300 Mulmur-Tosorontio Townline, north of Highway 89.
