Outlaws end season with BBQ and awards
Photo/MIKE MALONEY OUTLAW AWARD WINNERS Ethan Edwards (John A Nolan Memorial) and David Griffiths (Peter Coyne Memorial) pose with their trophys at the recent league banquet. The Orangeville Outlaws Representative Football Association marked the end of the season with their traditional banquet and awards ceremony at Island Lake Conservation Area on Saturday, September 15th, 2007.
The rain didn't deter parents and players from celebrating another successful season with the barbeque and pot luck.
A ball toss was set up so that players and parents alike could challenge their throwing ability and the kicking net, used throughout the season by the Peewee and JV squads, was also available for all budding kickers to give it a try.
After everyone had eaten their fill the Toronto Argo Derham Cato was on hand to help with handing out the awards to the players. Two special awards were handed out to players this year.
The John A. Nolan memorial award is awarded to the player who has shown the greatest heart, both on and off the field. This years recipient was Eathan Edwards, from the Peewee squad.
The Peter Coyne Memorial Award is in honour of a former player that tragically died earlier this year in a car accident. This award is to honour the player who has shown the most sportsmanship both on and off the field and was presented to David Griffiths from the JV squad.
The Orangeville Outlaws would like to thank all of our sponsors from the 2007 season: No-Frills, Wal-Mart, Dods & McNair, Home Depot, Sherismith.ca, Rotary Club, H & F Mini Storage, Broadway Musical, Detail Merchandising, Blackies Storage and Theatre Orangeville.
