Hunters face criminal charges

On Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, a confrontation occurred between two groups of hunters on the 15th Side Road in Amaranth Township. It is alleged that two hunters pointed their shotguns and made death threats at another group of hunters.

Officers from the Dufferin OPP Detachment responded to the complaint but the suspects had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

A criminal investigation led to the issuance of arrest warrants for the two men who turned themselves in to Dufferin OPP on Monday, November 19.

David D'Alfonso, 27, of Mississauga, and his father, Giuliano, 53, also of Mississauga, were charged with uttering death threats, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and using a firearm while committing an indictable offence.

The two were released from custody after attending a bail hearing. They are to attend Orangeville Criminal Court on Dec. 11.
