The Vantastic Slam

It wouldn't be right for me to write this weeks Slam without wishing Mrs Van Tastic a very special Happy Birthday. While I am smart enough still not to mention her age, I will say that she is just as beautiful today as she was the day we met.

I have recently had the pleasure speaking with some fans who were gracious enough to follow MVT's career in the ring.

It is nice to still be recognized and the one question they always ask is, when will you wrestle again?

I do appreciate that people enjoyed watching me and from the support I received when I won the PWE Championship right here in Orangeville back in 2001.

I loved wrestling and it didn't matter if it was in front of 50 or 550 people, I did it because I loved the business.

Some guys would "mail it in" sort of speak when they saw a small crowd. My philosophy was these people paid good money to come out and be entertained, and I would bleed for them no matter how small the crowd. As many of you know I retired several years ago after I suffered a terrible leg injury at the hands of Notorious TID.

With a young family at home and wrestling not paying the bills I had to make the decision to grow up if you will and start focusing on my real job.

If I had one last match however, it would go like this... Mike Van Tastic vs Notorious TID or Booker C (Chris Drury) inside a steel cage, no gimmicks, just all out hardcore the way we used to work and it would be right here in Orangeville. But, at least I still have my memories and pictures and the PWE title hanging on the wall.

AROUND THE RING... Reports say that Hulk Hogan and his wife Linda are getting a divorce although no details have been released as to why...At this point, the WWE is considering Ric Flair as the main attraction at next years Hall of Fame inductions. Mae Young is also being considered...Sabu missed two shows this past week for TNA telling management that he missed his flights...Booker T has signed on with TNA, and says he likes the schedule far more than that of the WWE. Booker also says that he looks forward to helping with the younger wrestlers...Former TNA interviewer Leticia Cline has been in talks with the WWE about a job...Sid Vicious has been in talks with the WWE as well about a possible return...The Nasty Boys received some heat last week after their match on RAW for working to stiff with their opponents...Word is that Carlito will soon be leaving the WWE and return to Puerto Rico to work for the WWC promotion...Harry Smith's suspension ends this week and will return to action this weekend at house shows...Vince McMahon has decided to tone down the sexiness of the Divas. I wonder how long that will last?...Bret Hart will be appearing at this Sundays Toronto Marlies game to help raise money for the March of Dimes.. As mentioned in a previous Slam, Sting's contract with TNAis set to expire next month and he has not yet agreed to return...Matt Hardy underwent an emergency appendectomy this week and will miss up to three months of action and finally, Hulk Hogan will host an updated version of the 1990's show "American Gladiator" which will begin airing in January.

That's all for this week, as always I enjoy reading your thoughts and questions. You can send them to mikevantastic@ hotmail.com

So until next week remember, I'm not just good, I'm Vantastic!
