Median financing falls short

A report to Orangeville Town Council has revealed a shortfall in financing for the Broadway median project.
The project was intended to be financed through private donations and, to date, $492,500 has been raised through such means.
That is close to $135,000 short of what the expenditures have been, so far.
The report, presented during council's 2008 budget review Monday, alarmed Deputy Mayor Warren Maycock, who expressed concern that the town would be saddled with bills it wasn't supposed to have.
"I can't remember a time when taxpayer funding of this project was ever mentioned."
