Crime Stoppers helped clear 11 cases in November

Last month, Crime Stoppers of Simcoe- Dufferin-Muskoka received 212 calls that helped police clear 11 cases, including robbery, possession of stolen property, narcotics offences, and other Criminal Code and provincial statute offences.

In a press release, the organization said the resultant police investigations led to nine arrests, 39 charges and the seizure of $15,000 in illegal drugs.

"When the Community and the Police work together, results can be obtained. Callers to Crime Stoppers never have to identify themselves and if the case proves to be successful, you are eligible for a cash reward."

As of Nov. 30, the local organization had received 39,610 tips in 2007 that led to 3,187 arrests, the clearing of 5,093 cases, recovery of property worth $9,456,698, seizure of drugs with a street value of more than $40 million. The tipsters received $237,490 in rewards.
