the Candlelight service December 16
A popular tradition returns to Westminster United Church this Christmas season. On Sunday, December 16 at 4 p.m., the choirs of the church present "Carols in the Candlelight," a service of readings and carols retelling the Christmas story.
Traditional carols sung by the congregation are interspersed with presentations by the Bell Choir, the Spirit Band and the Celebration Choir. Directed by Shirley Jemmett, Lynne Smith and Martin James, the choirs will present a diverse range of music for Christmas.
And in the spirit of fun and fellowship of the season, this year there is an added "feature." During the service, the Celebration Choir will perform Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" and they invite you to sing along! If you have a copy of the score of this famous music, bring it along and join in.
The choir has decorated the church for the Christmas season, and invites the community to join them for this special service. A free will offering will be taken during the service.
