Muskies take pair from Crushers
The Fines Home Hardware Muskies were on the road this weekend facing the Shallow Lake Crushers in back to back games.
Friday night the team hit the ice after a treacherous winter drive, pumped and ready to play.
Sean Connor scored back to back goals midway through the first frame giving the boys an early two goal lead.
Chris Ritchie and Chris Greer received the assists on the first goal and Greg Fullerton and Ritchie the assists on the second goal.
Nick Foreman followed Connors' lead pocketing two of his own before the frame ended, assists to Shawn Pollard, Chad Boulton, Greg Patton, and Jamie Doig making the score 4-0 after one.
Shallow Lake notched the first goal of the second frame, followed quickly by Foreman's unassisted marker, tallying the first hat trick of the game.
Jeff Deckers was next on the board with a power play goal from Boulton and Corey Allen.
The Muskies marked goal number seven on a short handed play by Pollard. Shallow Lake countered with two power play goals of their own, narrowing the gap to four.
The Shelburne contingent tallied four power play goals in the final frame. First it was Boulton from Patton followed by Connor with his third for the hat trick assisted by Patton.
Luke Downey and Boulton wrapped up the scoring with a pair of assists going to Bryan Hannon and a single to Downey.
Final score, 11-4 Muskies.
In the second game of the two game stand in Shallow Lake on Saturday night, things proved to look much like Friday's game.
The Muskies pocketed a total of seven goals, four coming on the power play with one shorthanded for good measure.
The scoring was opened by Sean Connor on a power play assisted by Chris Greer.
The Fabulous Matt Lougheed scored a short handed unassisted goal, sending the team to the room up by two.
The second period saw Lougheed score again from Greer and Ritchie.
Ritchie then pocketed his own power play goal from line mates Connor and Paul Hartley.
Shawn Pollard was next on the board with the third power play goal of the game from Lougheed and Derrick Robsonto make it 5-0 after two.
The Crushers scored their only game of the game right off the hop in the third frame.
Shelburne would answer back with Pollard tallying his second power play goal of the night from Hartley.
Finishing off the game
it was Kurtis Johnson recording his second of the season from Connor and Greer to make the final score 7-1 in favour of the Muskies.
The Muskies have a pair of games this weekend. Saturday night sees the Fish making a rare appearance at the Dundalk Arena, when they face the Ripley Wolves.
It is Minor Hockey Jersey night so don't forget to wear your jersey.
