This holiday season, the residents of Dufferin and Caledon are showing their generous support of Headwaters Health Care Centre and its medical equipment needs by covering the Tree of Giving with Headwaters Angels. The tree is on display at the Orangeville Mall throughout December.

Each year, Headwaters needs to replace, upgrade and buy new hospital equipment - this year at a cost of $1.7 million.

Most people are shocked to learn the government does not generally provide funding to Headwaters for the purchase of equipment. This means absolutely every piece of medical equipment used in the care of patients - from wheelchairs, to surgical instruments, to bedside monitors - is purchased through the generosity of people in our community. That is why donations - large and small - from the community are so important.

Already, almost 600 Headwaters Angels are covering the tree.

"We are absolutely delighted with the wonderful generosity the community is showing for their hospital," said Bob Baynham, Headwaters president and CEO. "It's very encouraging to know the community is solidly behind their hospital and our efforts to acquire the best possible equipment to provide excellent patient-centred care close to home."

"Donors in the community should feel very proud of the important role their gifts play at the hospital," added Linda Gray, Executive Director of Headwaters Health Care Foundation.
