Churches, libraries at risk of break-ins

2008-03-13 / Local News

More than 50 churches and libraries have been the target of break-ins in seven Central Ontario counties, including Dufferin.

Police say that in most incidents minor amounts of cash have been taken, and the culprits are actually causing more property damage than the value of the cash being stolen.

The incidents are occurring when the buildings are empty, usually overnight.

The OPP are are taking a preventive approach by issuing a warning to the caretakers of such buildings in the local area. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately.
