2008-06-26 / Regional News

A 43-year-old Toronto woman was driving a 1988 Honda motorcycle westbound on Highway 89 Friday evening following her husband, who was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer.

As the two vehicles were passing other westbound traffic, the Ford had to brake quickly to avoid a vehicle that was about to turn left in front of it, and the woman lost control and fell off the motorcycle. She suffered serious injuries and was transported by air- ambulance from the scene to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Highway 89 was closed for 6 1/2 hours while OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators examined the scene.

No charges have been laid. Dufferin OPP is continuing their investigation.
