The Orangeville Midget Bengals made the most of a recent trip west. They went 3- 0 in round robin play then posted a 5-2 decision over host Kincardine in the final to take the tournament title.

Game one action under the lights of Tout field saw the Bengals pitted against Center Wellington.

With Kevin Buck on the mound, the Bengals cruised to a relatively easy 19-4 victory against an error plagued center Wellington team.

Game two saw the Bengals take on Listowel.

Trent Barwick got plenty of run support in this one as the Cats pounded out 12 hits and scored 15 runs to shut out Listowel 15-0.

The third game was a much tighter affair.

Nick Hodgson pitched a complete game versus Saugeen Shores but this time it was the Bengals turn to make some errors.

Orangeville managed to get Ryan Kellow around to score early and ended up being the only run in a defensive affair, with the final 1-0 Orangeville.

This put the Bengals in the final against the tournament host team Kincardine.

Kincardine had won their own higher level tourney the week before and were looking to make it two in a row.

The Bengals sent Trent Barwick to the mound and he went to work shutting the Kincardine batters down through the first two innings. Orangeville bats put them up by one run in the first but by the fourth inning it was 2-1 for Kincardine.

A pitching and defensive duel carried on until the top of the final inning at which point the Tabbies pulled out the stops and scored four to go up 5-2.

Barwick buckled down and went to work in the final and with help of some fine defensive plays the Bengals won the final 5-2.

To see the Midget Bengals in action, they play most of their home games Monday nights at the Princess of Wales Park located at the corner of Alder Street and "B" line.
