On Saturday night playing at home in the Tony Rose, Orangeville kicked off the Northmen's 30th anniversary celebrations by posting a convincing 14-6 win over Six Nations.

Jesse Gamble got the ball rolling for Orangeville just over three minutes into the opening frame followed by an unassisted marker from Matt McLeod.

Playing in his first game for the Northmen since being traded from Toronto Beaches last week, Stephen Keogh was quick to leave his mark, teaming up with Adam Jones to make it 3-0 before Six Nations managed a pair of their own to in bottom half of one and another off the top of two to tie the score at 3-3.

Orangeville ramped up the play from that point forward with both Jones and McLeod adding another before both Jeff Ivey and Sean Gillies each chipped in a pair of back to back goals.

Third period action saw the Harnett's - Jon and Greg each tally for one before McLeod recorded the hat-trick at 12:01.

Andrew Suitor and Jordan Critch would wrap up the Orangeville scoring late in the third with Nick Rose again going the distance in net for Orangeville, facing a total of 43 shots on the way to the 14- 6 victory.

While many may have hoped for a day of rest on Sunday, it was not to be as Akwesasne made the trip west for the second meeting of the two teams this season.

In their last meeting Akwesasne had jumped out to an early lead then held the Northmen at bay to record an 8-6 win over the men in black.

This time however, the Northmen were the ones out to the lead first with Jeremy Noble doing the damage on a pair of goals. His first came at 6:15 combining with Matt McNutt and Glen Bryan then he teamed with McLeod and Keogh for a power-play marker at 12:04.

Akwesasne would get those two back to end the period tied at 2-2.

Suitor restored the Northmen with his 11th of the season, unassisted just past the midway point of the second.

Both teams would swap goals over the remainder of the period with Keogh, Ivey and Critch leaving their mark for Orangeville.

In the third though it was all Orangeville with Critch recording his second on the night while Brandon Ivey and Jason Noble each tallied with singles to make the final score 9-5 in favour of the Northmen.

Junior A action continues this weekend.

Friday night, Orangeville makes the trip down highway 10 to Brampton for an 8:00 p.m. date at the Memorial Gardens with the Excelsiors.

Sunday night it is back home to the familiar confines of the Tony Rose where Orillia will take their place on the visitors bench. Start time for this game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
