Top Technicians win over another car owner

On Friday, Aug 22, 2008, as I was driving my 300M 2002 through Orangeville, my car overheated badly. I took a turn on Broadway looking for a garage and landed at Top Technicians at 50 Broadway at about 4:30p.m.

I explained my problem to John Deschamp and he called Bruce (one of the mechanics) to come to my assistance. The first reaction was "It's late you may have to come back tomorrow" but when they heard that I had to be back in Toronto the same night, Bruce immediately started to try and solve the problem.

After about 40 minutes Bruce told me that he had investigated the problem and that it appear to be some debris in the cooling system, which was causing the car to overheat. He also told me that he had investigated on-line and found that there was a recall bulletin from Chrysler and also that my car still had about 7,000 km to go on the extended guarantee, and advised me to take the car to the dealership and have it fixed.

I asked him if he could do it and he said that the dealership would only have to charge me a deductible and that he did not have the heart to make me pay when the car was entitled to this service under guarantee. He told me not to drive on the highway and take city roads to get home. I asked how much I owed him for the service and he said "You were speaking to the owner and he did not charge you, therefore I will not charge you either."

Sunday night I took my car to the dealership in Toronto and left it there. Monday morning they called to tell me that the car did not display any sign of overheating and that my car was not covered under any guarantee. They also informed me that the car required front and back brakes and wanted to charge $1,400.00. My son spoke to Bruce and John Deschamp of Top Technicians in Orangeville and they gave him the bulletin number for the Chrysler recall. My son also explained to them that the car needed a brake job if they could please quote on it. John called my son later and quoted under $700.00 including taxes. The dealership still refused to do the recall saying the bulletin was ambiguous. I spoke to the Service manager and he agreed to drive the car and see if it would overheat. The car did not overheat therefore they refused to accept the opinion of Top Technicians. I shall be writing to Chrysler Canada on this subject.

Anyway, I booked an appointment with Top Technicians and took my car there for the brake job. My technician was Kevin, another excellent person and great mechanic. My total charge was $646.30 including taxes, and my car was ready in less than 3 and half hours. That's what I call honesty and excellence in service. Definitely my whole family and friends will be servicing our cars in Orangeville at Top Technicians

It is very difficult to find great mechanics anywhere but to find excellence, workmanship, speed and honesty is like looking for a needle in a bale of hay.

Thank you John Deschamp and his fantastic crew at Top Technicians, thank you Orangeville for having such great people and thank you God for putting me in their hands. I LOVE ORANGEVILLE! I believe such people should be put on a pedestal!
