Good luck on October 14

Elections come and go and frequently the incumbent politician is hammered by hostile forces within the electorate. The question is usually in the form of a veiled charge, "what have you done for us?"

Well, our M.P. Mr. David Tilson has actively promoted numerous Dufferin country issue and others in his riding.

He has weathered a storm of criticism and vitriol from those who support other parties. Mr. Tilson has represented his riding extremely well and in particular the interests and needs of resident citizen Allied veterans who for thirteen years have been excluded from veteran benefits, the work of Paul Martin when as the finance minister in 1995 declared all allied veterans to be excluded from inclusion in VAC programs. This was in contravention of the Charter, but that was conveniently overlooked by Martin.

David recognized the unfairness of this decision by the Liberals and has worked diligently to correct this injustice.

Recently the P.M., Mr. Harper, announce that reinstatement of Allied veterans to V.A.C programs would be a priority when he forms the next government. This decision is largely the result of David's "behind the scenes" hard work and we, the forgotten veterans thank him profusely.

This is a solid example of the care and attention that he gives to his riding. We ancient and weary old vets could easily have been abandoned and left to rot until we die, but for David that would have been our fate. Thank you David and good luck on the 14th October.
