Lottery cash calendar a Lions fundraiser
The Amaranth Lions Club has launched a novel fundraiser, in the form of a 2009 Lottery Cash Calendar.
"These calendars feature beautifully done peace poster drawings from local Dufferin area students, ages 11-13, are sponsored by Lions International and include the winning poster from a student from Credit Meadows Public School," said club spokesman Maxine Brownell.
The calendars cost $20 and provide 365 chances to win. The total value of the cash prizes is more than $9500. Tickets are drawn on a daily basis and tickets go back in again and again, with payments being sent out twice a month.
The club is selling just 1,500 of the calendars, and the net will equally support the kidney dialysis unit at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Choices youth shelter, Orangeville, Lions Sight First II and the Diabetes Hope Foundation (for youth with diabetes).
The prizes have been set up as follows: daily draws, Sunday to Friday of $20; Saturdays $50, New Year's Day 2009, $500 and Christmas Day 2009, $250.
"This would make an excellent Christmas gift," Ms. Brownell said. Purchasers need to provide the names and full addresses of the recipient so the cheques can be sent directly to them.
Free delivery of the calendars is offered inside Orangeville.
