County council has restricted the number of delegations at its meetings, and has ruled that there shall be no more reading of power point presentations by the delegations.

The new rules had been introduced as a notice of motion by Mono Deputy Mayor David Baldwin at the October meeting.

His motion, "that the clerk be directed to schedule no more than two delegations at all council meetings and require that delegations provide their presentations electronically prior to the meeting for distribution with the agenda, and that they refrain from reading from a power point presentation," passed with little comment last Thursday.

Ironically at the same meeting, a delegation from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture delivered its presentation as a video projected on the wall, during which they stood by.

This was followed by discussions and a motion to obtain a staff report for a possible coyote control bylaw.

By consensus, the council indicated that to view a power point presentation and to hear the information read by a delegation was to waste time.

"I can read," said East Garafraxa Mayor Allen Taylor.

Generally, the council agenda includes such things as staff reports, government information, proposals and other such things so council members can review the information prior to the meeting and have knowledgeable discussions.
