Hope, during dark days
Well, here we are. A full three weeks into 2009, and I haven't yet broken a new year's resolution! I confess I made that easy for myself this year by not making any.

Book has tidbits, surprises on Mounties
Ever since you've been old enough to walk, your parents have taught you that a policeman is your friend. If you're lost, look for a policeman or woman to help you find your way home. It is that many years since the colonial settlement of York, Upper Canada, was incorporated as the City of Toronto in 1834. Land of Opportunity
We are a unique nation, continent wide with a vast northern expanse. I was asked as a southerner how we should develop northern Canada. I live in Loretto, a small community in southern Ontario. My career has taken me to northern Ontario and to many countries in the world. What do I see as being unique here? Food for thought.

125 YEARS AGO Thursday, January 24, 1884 • Many of the railway lines have been blocked with snow the last few days. Although no complete blockade has taken place on the Toronto-Grey & Bruce, the trains have been running somewhat irregularly.
