Orangeville men held in Caledon murder

Two Orangeville men have been remanded in custody on first-degree murder charges in the gunshot slaying of Ariel Besley, 18, in Caledon last May 15.

Caledon OPP arrested David Bruce Davidson, 22, and Gregory Alexander Rose, 26, of Orangeville last Sunday, March 8.

The pair appeared before Justice of the Peace Joseph Claude Jacques Desjardins on Monday, and were remanded in custody for a further appearance on April 2.

Mr. Rose is represented by Orangeville lawyer Carrie Bellan, and Mr. Davidson by Toronto lawyer Maureen Elaine Addie.

According to court records, they were also scheduled to appear in a Barrie court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing on a charge of breaking and entering.

That charge arose from a May 9, 2008, occurrence but further details were not immediately available.

Eight days after the body of Mr. Besley, a Brampton resident, was found on May 15 beside Old School Road in Caledon, Peel Regional Police charged Roy Terrance Rousseau, 23, with possession of a smuggled firearm that the police say was the one used to kill him.

Mr. Rousseau was also charged with possession of stolen property. Police announced in January that the investigation into Mr. Besley's killing had been extended to Dufferin and beyond.

The investigation is continuing.
