Taxpayers entitled to answers
A recent report indicates that the "stucco" on Dufferin Oaks was poorly applied. experienced above-normal levels of moisture and poor construction detailing, and that no warranty was issued at the time of construction.
It is well known that there are many problems with the building but this is ridiculous. Who were the members of the committee that were in charge of the building project? Are they still involved?
Who was the officer charged with the overseeing the project? Are they still present?
These individuals clearly did hot properly supervise the project and now we, the taxpayers must pay.
If any of these individuals are still involved why should we ask them to look after fixing a million-dollars issue when they could not do it right the first time?
We, as taxpayers, are entitled to some answers.
I have recommended on many occasions that elected officials should not stay on committees year after year because they get complacent and lose interest in doing the job. We clearly need people at come forward to serve as officials for a term or two and then move on and let others provide their expertise.
