      The Mel Lloyd Centre in Shelburne has been chosen for the site of the area's first location of elearningnetwork, part of Ontario's Reaching Higher Plan, by which residents can earn accredited diplomas or degrees without commuting to or living at a college or university campus.

County may have to sue for Oaks repairs
      A site meeting of the architect, contractor and Dufferin County and Dufferin Oaks officials to discuss problems with exterior walls was held behind closed doors in the Mel Lloyd Centre auditorium Wednesday, since a solution might have to be found in the courts.

Storm signals traffic warnings
      The pre-Easter nearblizzard conditions in Dufferin County Monday morning left three tractortrailer units jack-knifed on Airport Road north of Highway 89, and inspired the OPP once again to remind motorists of the hazards of winter driving.

Barn fire 'suspicious'
      At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dufferin OPP officers who went to a barn fire in the Township of East Luther Grand Valley, near the intersection of the 2nd Line and 21-22 Sideroad, found the barn had been completely destroyed by the fire, with damage estimated at $100,000.

      The Highland Companies has updated its efforts to attract YMCA programs and services to a region including Amaranth, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, Shelburne and Southgate. The company began by contacting the YMCA last June.
