Studio III dance and music expanding
Orangeville's Studio III Dance and Music is expanding their music program next fall.
The studio has hired Melanie Steenburgh, who is moving back to Ontario from London, England, where she was heading up a music program in the school system implementing African Dancing and Drumming ensembles and orchestral and choral festival entries, including an engagement at the Royal Albert Hall.
Some of her education includes graduating from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music with Honors, being accepted into the awardwinning choir The MacMillan Singers under the baton of Dr Doreen Rao, and becoming a specialist in teaching early childhood music using Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze methods. Melanie then went on to the Ontario Studies of Education to complete a Bachelor's of Primary Junior Education.
Ms Steenburgh will be implementing an Early Childhood Music Program, Choral Program and African Dancing and Drumming program. She will be instructing Orff Ensembles using xylophones, metalophones and glockenspiels to create layers of sound and preparing students for private woodwind instruction. Piano and vocal private lessons are already filing up.
