Dan Best, long recognized as one of the most productive county executives in the area, recently left his position as Dufferin's director of Community Services.

Some of his major accomplishments during his seven-year tenure have include development of the facilities at Mel Lloyd Centre in Shelburne, the Youth Centre in Grand Valley, and the soon-torise seniors centre on Lawrence Ave., Orangeville, among a host of other things.

Neither CAO Linda Dean nor Warden Gordon Montgomery would comment, saying in effect that Mr. Best's departure is a private matter, and Mr. Best could not be reached for comment.

Personnel at the county appear to be in the dark, and other councillors had no comment.

There was no indication from anyone of a replacement for the former director.
