Credit Meadows YMCA, local firefighters, police officers and Boston Pizza's mascot are among the volunteers who will take part in a car wash in Orangeville Saturday that's part of a bid to set a Guinness World Record.

The wash event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be at Orangeville CARSTAR, 14 Coles Crescent.

The Orangeville location is among more than 140 CARSTAR Collision Centres in Canada and U.S. that will participate in the Soaps it Up National Car Wash day to raise funds for charity and earn a place in the record books. Volunteers will wash more than 4,000 cars in eight hours at multiple venues in order to set the Guinness World Record for the world's largest car wash.

This year marks the sixth anniversary for the Soaps it Up fundraising events in Canada and is the first year that U.S. locations are also participating.

In Canada, funds raised will support the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) and local charities.

"Over the past five years the CARSTAR Soaps it Up campaign has grown and become an important fundraising event for our customers, employees nd partners," said Sam Mercanti, President and CEO of CARSTAR Automotive Canada. "We're thrilled to have the U.S. locations participating this year and to join forces with them in this attempt to set a Guinness World Record."

Cystic fibrosis is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting young Canadians. A devastating disease, cystic fibrosis attacks primarily the lungs and the digestive system and requires a daily regime of intensive physical therapy and medications. About 3,500 Canadians currently live with cystic fibrosis.

CARSTAR Automotive Canada has been a proud supporter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since learning that a granddaughter of a franchisee had been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. In the last nine ears, it has raised more than $1.6 million to help find a cure.
