Bowen wins hospice award

Hospice Dufferin has presented Loretta Bowen with the Hospice Dufferin Palliative Care Award.

The award is presented annually to an individual who shows excellence in palliative care. Nominations are received from numerous providers of palliative care.

Loretta is a personal support worker (PSW) with Canadian Red Cross. She trained to become a PSW after raising her five children.

"Loretta has had many palliative clients in the community but the nominations committee was very impressed with her work in a specific case presented by the caregiver's family," said Maureen Riedler, executive director of Hospice Dufferin. She said the family felt that "Loretta provided assistance above and beyond her job obligations and often assisted on her own time."
