Mono to get $0.5M for Blind Line reconstruction

Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson and Mono Mayor Lorie Haddock have announced federalprovincial municipal funding for reconstruction of the Blind Line.

The project will enhance local transportation infrastructure and create jobs for Ontarians.

"Our government is making the progress Canada needs, distributing funding as fast as possible and getting projects started for the 2009 construction season," said Mr. Tilson. "I am pleased that this project will help the local economy thrive and ensure local roads remain in peak operating condition."

Liz Sandals, Liberal MPP for Guelph- Wellington, was unable to attend but said in a release, "We are creating jobs and the funding announced today will soon lead to enhanced infrastructure within the communitycreating a competitive advantage that attracts business and strengthens our economy today and into the future."

The governments of Ontario, Canada and the Town of Mono will each invest $507,667 into the Blind Line reconstruction project for a total of $1, 523,000. The section being worked on runs about 3 km, from County Road 16 (5 sideroad) to County 10 (10 Sideroad).

"The Town of Mono wishes to express their thanks to David. We are pleased to once again be a successful applicant," said Mayor Lorie Haddock. "We are excited to get the shovels in the ground on this well deserved project."
