Tilson recognizes work of riding's retiring Senator
Dufferin-Caledon MP David Tilson has issued a statement to mark the impending retirement of his riding's own Senator, J. Trevor Eyton.
"I would like to sincerely congratulate Senator Eyton on his impending retirement. He has enjoyed an immensely distinguished career in the Upper Chamber over the last 19 years. His countless contributions and tremendous dedication to Canada will always be remembered and I'm honoured that I've had the opportunity to work with him. I wish him all the very best in his retirement and in his next endeavours."
Senator Eyton was appointed to the Senate in 1990 by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
He served as President and CEO of Brascan Limited for 12 years and continues to sit on their Board of Directors.
He has devoted his life to public service, including: acting as Chairman of the Board of Governors at the University of Waterloo, the Chancellor of Dalhousie University, and being involved with the Arthritis Society, the Olympic Trust, and Sunnybrook Medical Institute.
His deep love for Canada and its people was formally recognized when he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Senator Eyton and wife Barbara Jane Montgomery have five children: Deborah Jane, Susannah Margaret, Sarah Elizabeth, Adam Tudor, and Christopher Montgomery.
The senator also proudly calls Caledon home.
