The operator of a forklift that tipped over into a ditch on Dufferin Road 16 is recovering in Toronto's Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre after being airlifted there following the accident last Saturday.

Witnesses told Dufferin OPP that the male operator, whose identity has not been released, was eastbound just east of Blind Line at about 5 p.m. Saturday when the vehicle went off the narrow shoulder into the ditch, coming to rest on its roof.

Emergency services responded and transported the man to Headwaters Health Care Centre, from which he was taken by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Dufferin OPP said the cause of the accident is still under investigation, adding that the driver was expected to recover and his identity and further details "may be released pending the conclusion of this investigation."
