OPP Hockley chase successful

Dufferin OPP officers responding to a tip concerning a possible impaired driver heading west on Hockley Road shortly after midnight Saturday located the vehicle and activated their emergency roof lights.

When the vehicle failed to stop a pursuit was initiated and the vehicle was safely stopped by using a rolling roadblock on County Road 16.

Villamor Butac Pineda of Toronto was charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg/100 mL, dangerous driving and flight from police.

The arrest was made during a special OPP operation during the civic holiday weekend. Between 4 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, Dufferin O.P.P. conducted safe traffic initiatives on roadways in Dufferin, including R.I.D.E. spot checks and traffic enforcement.
