Photo/WES KELLER Photo/WES KELLER FITTING PORTRAIT FOR A CHAMP: The 2008 Shelburne Old Time Fiddle Contest winner, Mathew Johnson of Waterloo, received from Shelburne Mayor Ed Crewson a print of the now-famous Laurie McGraw painting that depicts him as an early-life fiddle student, along about the time of his first appearance at the Shelburne Old Time contest at his age of 5. By some definitions, Mathew had persevered and finally captured the "Masters Event" of the fiddle. Helping to make the presentation was Bill Waite, chair of the Shelburne Rotary Club's contest organizing committee (right).
