Making punishment fit the crime: a tough task
      ONE OF THE TOUGHEST tasks facing any judge is the fixing of a sentence that appropriately deals with the crime and the criminal. And nowhere, we submit, is the task more difficult nor the opinions more diverse than when the task involves dealing with "white collar" crime and offences committed by juveniles.

A reasonable exemption
      IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PASSING strange, we submit, if Orangeville Council done otherwise. By the narrowest of margins (4-3) the councillors approved a new policy for development charges (alias lot levies) which maintains an exemption for new industries locating in the town.
