Hinbest on fire at Quick 32 Sportsman Series race
Michael Hinbest has found taking time to learn the car and how to bracket race is paying off.
After dealing with traction problems and braking at the last Quick 32 Sportsman Series event, Hinbest Racing is on fire at the IHRA MOPAR Nationals at Grand Bend.
Hinbest was able to qualify the car in the number one position, going 6.50 at 212-m.p.h., and after marking three qualifying passes with a range of only .008 of a second, the team is set on kill for the upcoming Quick 32 Sportsman Series event.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts teams at the Grand Bend Motorplex was rained out last weekend and rescheduled for this weekend
The running of the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals is presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts, which will feature round three of Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, along with round four in the Pro Modified Racing Association tour.
"All of this was possible because of Carl Spiering of ERD (Engine Research & Development) and Jim Salemi of G-Force Race Cars," noted crew chief Roy Hinbest. "They had our team fixed and back on the track in a week. Both companies were great to deal with and provided a quality product backed by great service, and we want to offer our thanks."
Hinbest also noted the team is ready with things sorted out.
"Although we lost in the quarter finals at the national event I know we have what it takes to win," he said. "Heading into the final four events of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts and having the car set and ready to race is a great accomplishment. This series is full of great competitors and every team has an equal shot at the championship with only two events already past."
The recent IHRA event was the first national race for Hinbest and the new ERD powered-Top Dragster. The car was set at a reliable pace of 6.50's even though the team's best recorded ET to date is 6.33 at 220-mph.
"The Quick 32 Series has made this level of racing possible for our team, things seem to fall into place and this series is essential to the growth of Ontario drag racing. Our team is set on a tight budget and saving on tow bills has helped tremendously," added team driver Michael Hinbest. "To be able to race with such a high level of competitors and the quality of race teams in the Quick 32 Series has been a dream come true."
Hinbest Racing would like to thank NAPA Auto Parts, Ideal Supply and Brake & Chassis brand products for their continued support along with their associate sponsors: Tire Discounter Group, Quaker State, Porta-cool, Fire Ball Coatings, NGK Spark Plugs, and Roy's Service Center & RSC Automotive Sales Consulting.
The eighth-mile Grand Bend event this weekend also features a four-car Alcohol Funny Car Match Race, a Jet Truck, a Supercharged V8 Drag Bike, the Grand Bend Motorplex Top Dragster and Top Sportsman Series, plus great racing action in the Thunder series and Junior programs, plus Fireworks.
