Weekend crashes take three lives
      Investigations continue into two weekend accidents in Dufferin and Caledon that claimed the lives of three Orangevillearea residents. On Friday evening, a BMW convertible occupied by Berta Vieira, 41, her daughter Tiffany, 20, and son Dylan, 15, collided on Dufferin Road 11 with a Dodge pickup driven by 57-year-old Walter Roden of Amaranth.

Town places 8th out of 83 in '09 energy challenge
      The results of the Count Me In! Community Energy Challenge show Orangeville has some room for improvement. The Town ranked eighth out of 83 municipalities for number of pledges submitted and in the middle out of 49 municipalities for the electricity consumption challenge.

Turner to seek Liberal nomination in Dufferin-Caledon
      Garth Turner is going to try for a third term in the House of Commons, this time as MP for Dufferin- Caledon. The former MP announced this week that he has officially submitted his papers to seek the nomination, and that those papers have been accepted.

Local young amputees back from seminar
      Morgan Placzek, 13, and Kiernan Rogers, 5, of Orangeville, have returned from The War Amps 2009 Ontario Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar in Kingston. Morgan, born missing part of both arms, and Kiernan a left leg amputee, attended the three-day seminar, which dealt with all aspects of growing up as an amputee.
