Weekend crashes take three lives
Investigations continue into two weekend accidents in Dufferin and Caledon that claimed the lives of three Orangevillearea residents.
On Friday evening, a BMW convertible occupied by Berta Vieira, 41, her daughter Tiffany, 20, and son Dylan, 15, collided on Dufferin Road 11 with a Dodge pickup driven by 57-year-old Walter Roden of Amaranth.
According to police, Mr. Roden's vehicle crossed the centre line and hit the other vehicle headon. Berta Vieira was pronounced dead at the scene. Tiffany died after being airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital. Dylan is recovering from serious injuries at Toronto Sick Kids hospital.
OPP technical traffic collision investigators are continuing their investigation and no charges had been laid as of press time.
Another tragic accident Saturday took the life of an Orangeville youth on Kennedy Road, south of Escarpment Sideroad in Caledon.
According to Caledon OPP, a grey Ford was southbound at around 1 p.m. when the driver lost control and collided with a tree on the east side of the roadway.
The 16-year-old driver, Curt Millard of Orangeville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was treated and released from Headwaters Health Care Centre. Caledon OPP and Central Region traffic reconstructionists are continuing their investigation.
