Coffee to be a weapon in Alzheimer's war

2009-08-20 / Local News

The Alzheimer's Society of Dufferin County is asking everyone to participate in the 14th annual Alzheimer Coffee Break.

Set for Monday, September 14, the Coffee Break is a nationwide event to raise funds for Alzheimer programs and services.

But while it's a national event, all of the funds raised locally will stay local; all of the money raised in Dufferin will stay in the community to help local families.

Hosting a Coffee Break can be a fun and entertaining way to enjoy your daily coffee, and it's simple. The local society supplies the coffee and other materials and the hosts simply collect the donations. Each Coffee Break can be as simple as serving coffee to a few friends, or as elaborate as a Hawaiian themed party, and it can take place anytime in September.

Those who can't find the time to host a Coffee Break can host a virtual Coffee Break online at www. alzheimercoffeebreak. com. It allows you to invite friends and family to donate to the Alzheimer Society of Dufferin without leaving the comfort of their home.

By participating in this year's Coffee Break, you are enabling people with Alzheimer's to live a more normal life. You would be helping their families by making more services available to them in our community.

This year's local goal is $8,000.
