Candidate Turner opens website with blog

Garth Turner, who is expected to be unchallenged as the Liberal candidate in the federal riding of Dufferin-Caledon, has opened a website with an interactive blog, as a way for residents of the riding to get involved directly and instantly.

"For too long we've sent people off to Ottawa in an election," Mr. Turner said in a press release, "only to have them ignore us.

"In Dufferin-Caledon there have been no regular Town Hall meetings with the MP and no way to instantly communicate with our guy in Ottawa. I can't change the way he does his job, but I can offer folks an alternative."

The website is www. GarthTurner.com . Visitors will find a daily blog written by the former Conservative MP and cabinet minister, an open forum for comments and discussion, breaking news on national and local issues, local media coverage and ways for people to stand and be counted.

The former MP for Halton riding, who sat as an independent and then a Liberal after being ejected from the Conservative caucus for criticizing some government policies, now resides in Cataract.
