Peewee Flyers start with win
The Hallmark Toyota Peewee AA Flyers travelled to Brampton's venerable old Memorial Gardens for their season opener and to the delight of the visitors, they left the barn with a 3-1 victory.
Head coach Jamie Houghton and assistants Andrew Adams and Lisa White commented that the boys began to gel as the game progressed.
The difference might have been in net where Orangeville's Connor Davis was steady and occasionally spectacular.
Brampton had the only goal of the first period however Brad Arthurs evened the game up early in the second after good work from his linemates Grayson Houghton and Carson Robinson. Arthurs banged home the rebound sending cheers echoing through the rafters.
The Flyers went ahead for good in the third on a well executed two on one that saw Amedeo "Amo" Traetto slide a beautiful pass across the goal crease to a charging Ben Mercy. Mercy made no mistake as he tipped the puck into a wide open net.
Houghton sealed the victory with an empty net goal as time was running out.
In addition to the boys mentioned the team members also include Max Neumann, Ryan Bronson, Ben Adams, Brigg Jones, Braeden Black, Riley White, David Bath, Colin Courtney, DJ Small, and Cole Quinlan.
These Flyers have been together for a few years now and the coaches are pushing them hard to improve on the excellent results of 2008-2009.
