Contributed Photo REHEARSALS are going on for Anybody for Murder, a presentation of the Tipling Stage Company which will take place Oct. 15-18 at the Grace Tipling Hall in Shelburne. For three days later this month, Shelburne will be a place of murderous intent — at the Grace Tipling Hall, that is.

The Tipling Stage Company will present Anybody for Murder, a murder mystery/comedy, Oct. 15-18.

Set in the Greek Islands, it is a story of a vacationing couple that includes a wife who stands to receive a substantial inheritance from a deceased uncle.

Some long-lost cousins arrive on the scene with dishonourable intentions and the intrigue begins.

The play "has a lot of twists and turns," says Tipling Stage Company president Jodi Jones, "and the ending is something you never would have thought."

Tickets for the play, directed by Wendy Walker of Orangeville, are $15 and can be obtained at Shelburne Town Hall, IDA Drugs and Holmes Music and Appliances. Show time for Oct. 15-17 is 8 p.m. and there will be a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Anybody for Murder marks a return to the company for Ms. Walker. She also directed the first-ever production, Neil Simon's Plaza Suite, last year.

The company also staged a play, Busybody, in April.

Ms. Jones says there were a few reasons behind last year's founding of the Tipling Stage Company, the main one being "for the community to have a place to go and an outlet for entertainment."

As well, Ms. Jones says "We have this beautiful facility in the Grace Tipling Hall and, for a majority of the time, the theatre was not being used."

The town's performing arts board put out the feelers to see if anyone was interested in starting a theatre company and the response was positive.

The town put up money for the first production. "We ended up selling out," recalls Ms. Jones.

"We paid them back all we borrowed and had some left over for the next show."

On Oct. 17, the Shelburne Curling Club will be in on the act, so to speak. As part of a fundraising effort, the club will be holding a dinner and show that features a full roast beef dinner (starting at 5:30 p.m.).

Ticket holders will attend the play and return to the club for dessert and drinks afterwards.

To obtain tickets and for more information, call the Shelburne Curling Club at 519-925-2011.
