Photo/MIKE MALONEY The song says that "two out of three ain't bad" and one could guess that was a sentiment shared around the Crushers' dressing room Monday morning after the team took two of three games this past weekend.

Starting the weekend off was a visit from the Hamilton Red Wings. Still smarting from a 4- 3 overtime loss to the Red Wings back in September, Orangeville was looking to extend their unbeaten streak at home as well as solidify their place in the CCHL West division standings.

Scott Collins would open the scoring for Orangeville with an unassisted power-play goal at 3:31 of the first, only to have Hamilton tie it back up at 1-1 less than a minute later.

Playing even for the balance of the first, it wasn't until midway through two that the Crushers began to find their stride.

Again it was the power play leading things off with Tyson Fawcett scoring his first of two at 12:25, with Cody Britton adding another at 16:09.

In the third, though, it was all Orangeville as an offence, that had struggled as of late, seemed to find the range time and time again.

Leading off the scoring parade in the third for the home team was Fawcett, who snapped home a heads up pass from Collins with a wrist shot to the wide side on the power-play at 2:08.

Breaking in on a twoon one with Daniel Percuklijevic, Krystian Yorke opted to take the shot and threaded one between the post and Wings goalie Rob Behling four minutes later.

Ryan Marcuz made it 6-1 before Jarrod Connolly and Mike Arnold entered the fray with a goal by Arnold at 15:58.

The two then assisted on a Beni Berisha beauty, each getting off a shot before Berisha picked up a loose puck just off the top of the crease, weaving a shot through the crowd to make it 8-1.

Again Nick Gigone was more than up to whatever challenges were sent his way, turning back 24 of 25 shots sent his way to record another win in net for Orangeville.

Saturday again saw the lights of Alder shining down on the

Crushers, this time with Ajax taking over the visitors bench.

Looking to make ground in the east, Ajax brought their A game to Orangeville and the two teams found themselves tied 3-3 at the end of two periods of play with the Crushers goals to that point off the sticks of Connolly, Arnold and Hayden Smith.

Turning up the heat in the third, both squads were pressing for that elusive go-ahead goal and it was Orangeville that was rewarded.

Spotting Philip Teri in the slot, Nicholas Vassos made a beautiful pass to Teri from behind the net, which he slid between the Ajax goalie's pads for what would prove to be the game winner with 8:49 remaining.

Marcuz caught the inside of the far post on a two-on-one breakaway goal with Vassos at 18:05, while Connolly sealed off both top and bottom of the scoresheet with an unassisted empty netter at 19:31.

Wrapping up the weekend on the road at St Michaels College Sunday afternoon, the wear and tear of three games in three nights finally took its toll.

Down 2-0 to the Buzzers,Orangeville battled back to even the score with singles from Jared Martin and Arnold at the end of the first.

But that was all the offense could muster in front of Ryan Fitzsimmons, making his first start in goal for the Crushers.

St. Michaels went ahead on a lone second period goal then sealed the win with another pair in the third to post a 5-2 decision.

The weekend ahead promises no easy games for Orangeville.

Friday night Newmarket makes their way to the Alder Street Arena once again.

Sitting just one point ahead of Orangeville in the standings, a win could edge the Crushers past Newmarket into second place depending on the outcome of a game Thursday night between the Hurricanes and division leading Burlington Cougars.

Saturday it's on the bus for Orangeville for a trip to Seguin for a date with the Bruins. While Bruins have struggled early this season, nothing can be taken for granted by the Crushers if they plan on continuing their winning ways.
