Peewee AA Flyers on 3 game streak
The Hallmark Toyota Peewee AA Flyers posted three victories over a five day period to improve their record to four wins and one loss.
They thumped Milton 7-2, edged Georgetown 3-2 and then whitewashed Guelph 4-0. Their lone loss of the season came against the rival Caledon Hawks.
Ben Mercy's two goals and solid two-way checking helped lead the way against Milton.
David "Wild Thing" Bath also had a strong game, chipping in with a goal while keeping the Milton players hewed in their own end on many occasions.
This was the first game after the Caledon defeat and Coach Jamie Houghton was pleased at the way the team rebounded from that loss.
Brigg Jones, Grayson Houghton and DJ Small also scored for the Flyers.
Connor Davis was well supported by his defence corps and the back checking forwards.
Cow bells rang three times against Georgetown as the Flyers came back from an early deficit to edge the Raiders 3-2.
Max Neumann, Cole Quinlan, Colin Courtney, Riley White and Amedeo Traetto led the way for Orangeville in this game.
Neumann's wicked slap shot from the left point early in the third gave the Hallmark team a 3-2 lead that they held onto with a combination of great goaltending, timely face-off wins and some Lady Luck.
Riley "Hound Dog" White gave the Raiders players fits as he doggedly skated them through their own end boards shift after shift.
This inspired his teammates and helped the Flyers win this game.
The defencemen must have thought Bobby Orr was in the house as they rushed at every opportunity from the beginning of the game to the end.
Goals in this game came off the sticks of David Bath, Amedeo Traetto and Max Neumann. Assists went out to Colin Courtney, Brigg Jones, Ben Adams (2), Brad Arthurs and Grayson Houghton.
Quinlan's timely saves late in the game didn't go unnoticed by the coaching staff. "Quinlan saved the day" remarked Assistant Coach Andrew Adams right after the game.
The Flyers ended the week with a solid 4-0 victory over Guelph.
It was a good thing Grayson Houghton scored early in this one because he left the game shortly after, falling awkwardly into the boards and is doubtful for the next game.
Assistant Coach Lisa White would only say that it was an"upper body injury".
Connor Davis posted his first shutout and third win of the season. He is riding a hot streak and a 1.33 goals against average to start this season.
Brad Arthurs and Carson Robinson led the way in this game. Arthurs helped out on three goals, one each from Houghton, Robinson and Ryan Bronson.
Robinson added an assist in addition to a nice goal.
The other goal was tallied by DJ Small.
Small patrols the right side of the rink as well as anyone in the league.
His scoring touch will help this team as the season moves past the one-quarter mark.
Other assists in the game were recorded by David Bath, Riley White, Braeden Black and Colin Courtney.
