Humber special lecture on police readiness today
Humber college's Orangeville campus will be the scene at noon today of a special lecture on police readiness and terrorism.
As part of the Humber Orangeville Campus Fall Lecture Series, Karl Barnhart will present a lecture entitled 'Police readiness in an Emergency - Behind the Thin Blue Line' at the Orangeville Public Library Mill Street location from noon to 1 p.m.
This lecture will highlight how law enforcement nationwide is increasingly called upon to deal with the issues of terrorism. Also highlighted will be look back at the evacuation of the city of Mississauga in November 1979.
This November will mark the 30th anniversary of the then largest 'peacetime' evacuation of a mass population.
Mr. Barnhart was a member of the Peel Regional Police Force for 29 years.
His work with the Peel Tactical Unit is well known.
