10-week-old puppies found in dumpster

2009-11-05 / Local News

Four mixed-breed puppies were found in a dumpster behind the Orangeville Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet last Thursday, at the corner of Townline and Broadway.

The 10-week-old puppies which appear to be black and tan, large breed type puppies were rescued by a local citizen who then contacted the Orangeville and District branch of Ontario SPCA, which responded immediately to the call.

The puppies are receiving treatment for life threatening infestation of fleas and internal parasites and are being monitored closely by staff, with the hope they will recover well from the ordeal.

Animal cruelty investigators are asking for the public to come forward with any information regarding the owner of the puppies.

There is a strong concern that the mother of the puppies may be in the same condition and may require veterinary treatment as a result.

To learn more about how you can help with the care of these puppies as well as other animals at the shelter or to report something you may have witnessed, call or visit: Ontario SPCA Orangeville and District Branch, 650 Riddell Rd, Orangeville, phone 519-942-3140
