Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin- Muskoka is encouraging the public to ensure that when they are making charitable donations that the charitable organization is well-known and reputable, and suggests that any donations are made by cheque instead of cash.
Reputable charities will have resources available to you where you can make inquiries to validate their authenticity or review their financial records and speak with a staff member or manager.
If you have knowledge of a crime, call 1-800-222- 8477. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display, you will never have to identify yourself or attend court, and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
