Volunteers help animals, environment

2009-11-12 / Local News

Looking for a unique stocking stuffer? Consider buying a recyclable shopping bag from Paws and Claws Thrift Store at 162 Broadway and support the animals at the Ontario SPCA Orangeville and District Branch.

This homegrown project came about when two long-term volunteers, Bill Busch and Marg Hogben, joined forces with frequent customer Linda Ugolini to design, sew and paint the bags.

Each bag is unique. Each has been lovingly handmade right down to the blue lettering and the Paws Logo by store volunteers. The material used to make the bags was donated and the bag is strong and roomy enough to carry those heavy Christmas purchases from Paws and Claws.

A limited number of these one-of-a-kind bags are available at Paws and Claws, 162 Broadway during Moonlight Magic on Friday, November 20. They are being sold for a minimum donation of $5. All proceeds from the sale of these bags will help care for the animals at the Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre at 650 Riddell Road in Orangeville.
